The general dispersion/emulsificasion mechanism of all dispersion machines depend on “Shearing Force“. It is different for each dispersion machine to give the shearing forces to processing material.
The dispersion machine can be classified broadly into 2 groups as below.
One group is the devices, such as media mill, colloid mill, roller mill, rotation type, high pressure type, and so on, which disperse/emulsify matters by shearing forces generated between fluids and its parts.
The other group is the devices, which disperse/emulsify matters by fluid's intermolecular forces, i.e. internal shearing force (liquid-liquid shearing) named Reynolds shear stress caused by irregular velocity unstable fluctuation in turbulent flow.
