Principle of Atomization in CLEARMIX


The general dispersion/emulsificasion mechanism of all dispersion machines depend on “Shearing Force“. It is different for each dispersion machine to give the shearing forces to processing material.

The dispersion machine can be classified broadly into 2 groups as below.

One group is the devices, such as media mill, colloid mill, roller mill, rotation type, high pressure type, and so on, which disperse/emulsify matters by shearing forces generated between fluids and its parts.

The other group is the devices, which disperse/emulsify matters by fluid's intermolecular forces, i.e. internal shearing force (liquid-liquid shearing) named Reynolds shear stress caused by irregular velocity unstable fluctuation in turbulent flow.

CLEARMIX is a dispersion machine, which applied our original liquid-liquid shearing force generation technology.

CLEARMIX dispersion part is composed of a rotor and a screen. The rotor maintains subtle clearance with screen, and rotates at high speed.

The rotor gives kinetic energy to fluid, and the speed of fluid is accelerated when it passes through screen slots.

The accelerated fluid makes intermittent jet flow in the vessel, and the jet flow generates liquid-liquid shearing forces at the velocity interfaces.

Atomization was performed by the shear forces generated by intermittent jet flow.

By changing the combination of the rotor /screen, the particle size and its distribution can be controlled.

For generating fine particles, the combination of the rotor /screen which have high atomization power can be chosen. For treating the material with high viscosity and heavy density, the combination of the rotor /screen which have high total flow can be chosen.

Based on these combinations, the best condition for the processing material can be obtained.
